My name is Ryan Schmitz and I was born and raised and surrounded by the mountains in Missoula, Montana.

I got my start in fictional storytelling and filmmaking when I was in first grade. My parents bought me an old VHS camcorder from a pawn shop and I started making really truly terrible short films with the help of my very kind and patient family and friends. I realized eventually though, that the real power of storytelling is through authenticity. It must speak truths. Even if you are making a terrible horror movie, let it at least be genuine. If you don't believe in what you are telling the world, who will?
